Crabble Corn Mill

The Mill is set in the pretty village of River just outside Dover, both the mill and River are well worth a visit. It's definitely not a 'boring' educational type attraction and visits to the mill are enjoyed by a wide range of visitors from the UK and abroad.

Mills have been present on the site since the 13th century. The current mill was erected in 1812 to meet the needs of the troops stationed in Dover during the Napoleonic Wars. The building ceased to function as a working mill just before the turn of the 20th Century. In 1973 (European Architectural Heritage Year) the restoration of the building began, taking nearly 17 years to complete. The restoration and maintenance is an ongoing process and continues today.

The great thing about The Crabble Mill is that visitors can not only see the Georgian mill in operation but can buy the flour ground by the mechanism (several item on the Mill's cafe' are made with the Crabble Flour). The mill's cafe' can be hired for private functions and is a great venue to hold a memorable social event. Wheelchair access to ground floor and café Opening Times
